We are very excited to explore our newly adopted stretch of creek in Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park! Not only will we be ridding this beautiful area of trash and dog poop, we will also be removing nandina and ligustrum berries. We will also learn to identify other invasive plant species and the different techniques we will use in the future to inhibit their growth along the creek. We will have a (very) brief introduction to riparian restoration and grow zones, and a short discussion about all the cool stuff we will be doing at this site in the future. We’ll tie it all together with a scavenger hunt. And, to top it off, we’ll have some fun splash time in the creek!
*Please note: This particular section of the creek is an off-leash area for dogs. You or your scout will likely come into contact with loose dogs.

We will be meeting behind the kiosk at the Mountain Bike Trailhead. It’s on the opposite side of the parking lot from the pool and playground. We are attempting to keep the little ones away from the playscape!
